So far, only the excavation of the Central Building, around which there is a settlement, has been completed. The excavated building was built in 1700 BC and was destroyed around 1600 BC by an earthquake, as evidenced by "fossilized pulse movements". It was built above an earlier building dating in the Protopalatial period (1900-1700 BC), the remains of which are visible in various places, outside and inside the Central Building. The most important rooms of Protopalatial period are the north complex (Rooms 65A-B,66, 67, 69,70, 71, 72) and the Minoan Hall-type complex (Rooms 50-52) that was discovered under the central courtyard. However, sporadic finds show that the area was inhabited before 2000 BC.
The uniquely preserved Central Building, with walls that reach up to 2.90 m. is orientated from North to South. Four entrances led to the interior of the building, the main ones being the north entrance, from which the central corridor (Corridor 10) started, and the SE entrance (Room 32), which seems to have been monumental as it had a staircase and a podium. In front of the northern entrance the northern paved courtyard has been revealed, where part of a ceremonial corridor and a ramp are preserved (Room 68).
The central corridor (Corridor 10) divides the complex into two wings, the eastern and the western. In the western wing there were workshop areas (Rooms 13-16, 38), kitchens (Rooms 17, 27 and 58), storerooms (Rooms 57, 57A, and 59) and areas with cultic/ritual character (Rooms 37, 47C). The central courtyard (Space 29 above Rooms 50-52), an entrance (Rooms 1, 2 and 64), a waiting room (Room 4) and a sanctuary (Room 9) were located on the east side, while the private rooms were on the south.
North of the central building, a pottery kiln with its annexes has been uncovered. East to the kiln the remains of buildings of the Neopalatial and Protopalatial phases can be seen. The most important among them are the remains of a sanctuary (Spaces 65A-B), where charred remains of a wooden cult statue covered by ninety - nine sheets of gold have been found.
