The Popular Decorative Arts Collection of Rhodes is housed in the Hospitaller period building known as the Arsenal, on Argyrokastroy Square. In comprises woodcarvings, chests and other traditional furniture, embroideries, pottery, metal objects, examples of the so-called Lindian ware and traditional costumes from various Dodecanese Islands (Symi, Karpathos, Rhodes, Nissyros, Tilos, Chalki) and other parts of Greece.

The display is arranged in specially arranged sections of the ground floor hall which recreate the internal arrangement of Dodecanesian houses during the Ottoman period (1522-1912). The general effect thus achieved recalls the atmosphere of such interiors. The aim is not to present the daily life of the past but to showcase the style and tastes of the inhabitants.
