A monument of importance as to the Macedonian burial architecture was uncovered in the spring of 1994, during the long excavation conducted by the sixteenth Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities at the large tumulus in Agios Athanasios settlement. The was uncovered under the large tumulus to the east of the settlement, in the Thessaloniki metropolitan area.
