remnants of an independent castle in the area of Embona, on the NW slope of Mt. Attavyros, at Kitala. The castle does not appear in the written sources of the period. However, the associated settlement of Kitala is mentioned in 1474, when its inhabitants were ordered, alongside the villagers of neighbouring Kapi, to take shelter in the castle of Salakos.
