West of the city of Megara, the ruins of a large circular structure are visible along the National Highway. Set on a hill near the ancient Scironis road, it has been identified as a watch tower controlling the Scironis pass. It has also been tentatively identified as the tomb of Kar, legendary king of Megara, or as the tomb of the flute-player Telephanes, since both these monuments are mentioned by Pausanias as being on the ancient road connecting Megara and Corinth.
