The funerary church of the small village Steli is a small, barrel-vaulted, single-nave building, belonging to a very common architectural type in Icaria during the Post-Byzantine period. The gable roof is covered with natural slates. The importance of the church lies in the wall-paintings of the interior, which are dated to 1708 according to the inscription preserved in the bema. The murals were created be two itinerant painters from Chios: the priest Ioannis Chomatzas and his son Michael Chomatzas, who have also worked in churches and monasteries of Lesvos and Chios.
