An impressive quarry of marble used perhaps in the 6th century BCE (some scholars believe that it was used in the Roman period) and again in the end of the 19th- beginning of the 20th centuries. On the beach there are still some ancient semi-finished marble architectural members. Among them there is a huge ionic capital 2,39 m. long. The marbles from this quarry were exported for the building of some of the great ancient temples of Ionia
