The church of St. Nikolaos in Sarakina was built in 1858 according to an anscription in relief outside the sanctuary. It's a three-aisled basilica with a dome, which is dominating the central aisle. A narthex is added and an ambulatory in the south and west side.

The masonry of the church is carefully built of semi-rectangular stones. It ends in an apse which is formed with six shallow conches. Frescoes, which are painted in the second half of the 19th c., occupy the walls of the church.

The church was damaged from the earthquake of 1995.A restoration of the masonry and reinforcement of the wall paintings were carried out.
