The fortified settlement southeast of Aloros at Aridaia, Pella, was one of the cities of ancient Almopia. The city was built along the Almopaios River and controlled the plain before it. Limited excavations in 1996-2000 showed that the site was inhabited from the Late Bronze Age until the Late Roman period.
