The Kathollikon of the monastery of Zavordas monastery is located on the top of the monument Kallistrato. It belongs to the athonite type of triconch cross-in-square with a dome and narthex. It was built on the ruinsof an older monument -as far as the east side is concerned- by Osios Nikanor probably in 1528.It is dedicated to the Transfiguration of Christ. The ambulatory ends to two chapels :in north the chapel of St.Athanasios and in south the chapel of St.Ioanni Prodromou which is now demolished and only the tomb of Osios Onoufrios is preserved. In southwest corner the bell-tower was built in 1873.

The wall paintings are dated in different periods. Scenes fron the Eucharistic Cycle, the Life and Passion of Christ and saints standing life-size were depicted by the painter Fragos Katelanos in the middle of 16th c. A second and third layer in the dome are confirmed by two donor's inscriptions and were depicted in 1592 and in 1869 by the painter Manouil from Selizi. In the west wall of the nave, another inscription refers to another layer which was depicted by the painter Konstantino Chatzinota from Naousa in 1889. The exonarthex was painted in 1835 and is covered with scenes from the life and miracles of Osios Nikanor, saints and the scene of the Last Judgement
