The archaeological site of Krissa comprises the small prehistoric settlement and the fortifications of the Mycenaean town on the Agios Georgios hill. Approximately 1,500 metres of fortification walls, built of large rectangular ashlar blocks and smaller stones bonded with earth, the gate (3,75 meters wide) and the remains of a semicircular tower survive today.

The cemetery of the Mycenaean town is currently located within the limits of the modern town, in the Panagia quarter. Excavations by the Tenth Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities revealed a number of important finds, which provide invaluable information on the life and habits of the ancient people of Krissa.
