The archaeological site of Palamari is located on the Kastraki promontory on the northeast part of the island of Skyros.

It contains a prehistoric fortified settlement that has been dated in the Early and Middle Bronze Age (3rd and 2nd millennium BC).

It is strongly fortified with a substantial wall that is buttressed with numerous horseshoe towers.

However, due to the steep slope of the hill towards the sea and the prevailing geological conditions, a large part of the settlement remains today under the sea.

Within the fortification wall the settlement consists of houses with courtyards, terraces and fireplaces, cisterns, storage areas, workshop structures, roads and pipelines. Beautiful pottery as well as tools from the Palamari settlement are exhibited in the Museum of Skyros.
