This characteristic example of the Greco-Buddhist sculpture of the Gaddara region represents Buddha dining with his disciples. This scene is common in Buddhist iconography, but the treatment shows Greek influence. To the right, Buddha sits in the lotus position, dressed in a Greek chiton, his hairstyle reminiscent of Hellenistic art. The four figures to his left also wear chitons, while the Corinthian capital to the left and the column in the left corner are also typicaly Greek. This religious sculpture, which illustrates an episode from the life of Buddha, belongs to the Chatzivasileiou collection.
