Permanent exhibition of the Archaeological Museum of Eretria

Necklace made of faience beads representing Isis and Horos
Necklace

This impressive necklace is one of the important minor art finds from Lefkandi. It confirms the interactions of Lefkandi, located in the wider region of Eretria, with Cyprus and Phoenicia during the Protogeometric period. It is preserved in a good condition and consists of 53 oblong and identical pendants that grow shorter towards the setting of the necklace. All pendants represent seated figures, while the central and most important pendant portrays the Egyptian goddess Isis nursing Oros. The necklace was found at the cemetery of Lekfandi along with other valuable items imported from Cyprus and Phoenicia.
