The archaeological site of Lakithra located in the western part of Kefalonia is located 5 km from Argostoli, the present capital of the island and 3 km from the Venetian Castle of St. George.

On the southern slope of the hill, where the village of Lakithra is built, were investigated during the years 1931-1932, by Spyridon Marinatos four vaulted Mycenaean tombs (Tombs A, B, C and D).

Recently, the site was promoted through the European Programme NSRF 2007-2013
