Permanent exhibition at the old building of the Archaeological Museum of Mytilene

Figurine of Aphrodite and Cupids

Figurine of the goddess Aphrodite seated on a dolphin. The legs of the goddess are covered with an himation (mantle) that flutters in the air behind her naked torso. The goddess is surrounded by two cupids. One of them is shown with his back turned to the viewer, and attempts to catch the dolphin's tail, while the other one stands next to Aphrodite. The figurine stands on a high, cylindrical base. The figurine is covered in an off-white coating apart from the uncovered parts of the figurine and the small cupid to her left, which are covered in green glaze and dark brown slip.
