Archaeological & byzantine exhibition

Frontside of the female idol
Anthropomorphic figurine

This is a typical figurine of the Neolithic period. This anthropomorphic figurine was found at the village Amygdalia in the Municipality of Kozani. It has been reunited from three different pieces, and it is currently preserved in a good condition. The clay used for its construction is orange and contains admixtures. It is handmade and represents a female figure seated on a stool. It is decorated in reddish paint. The curves on the female body are exaggerated. The decoration covers the entire surface of the figurine and the motifs look like schematized branches, while the pattern below her waist may signify some sort of garment or even a belt.
