Church of the Dormition of the Virgin or Saviour's Transfiguration in Potami (River), Karlovasi
The church, also known as "Panagia Potamou" or "Agia Sotiro", is the most important and well preserved byzantine monument in Samos. It is a cross-in-square church of the simple four columned type. The marble columns that support the dome, as well as their Corinthian capitals, probably come from ancient or Early Christian monuments of the site. Aspect of the castle form the north-west  
Castle of Potami (River) in Karlovasi
Small fortress built on top of a naturally fortified, rocky outcrop of the mountain, accessible only from its NE side. This side is protected by a tall and strong wall, which preserves the battlements on the top and the entrance gate. The inner side of the wall is formed by arches supporting the "peridromos", i.e. the rampart walk, on which the guardians of the castle circulated protected by the battlements. Church of Agios Nikolaos in Potami (River), Karlovasi
The monument is located approximately 150m. to the north of the church of the Dormition of the Virgin (or Saviour's Transfiguration) and is badly preserved. It was a single-nave, barrel-vaulted basilica with a semicircular bema apse (still preserved at sufficient height) and the main entrance to its south wall.
